| Top 9 Job Sites to Bookmark for Your Career Search - YAHOO! Posted: 10 Jan 2011 06:59 AM PST Approximately 84% of employees in North America plan to look for new jobs in 2011, according to a recent survey by global talent management firm Right Management. Put them alongside those who are unemployed, and you have a whole lot of people searching for work. If you happen to be in either of those positions, it's essential to get organized about your job search by understanding what information and resources are available to you on the major job sites. Over the years, job boards have become more than just job search sites -- many now offer additional resources and functionalities to job seekers. Here are nine of the top job sites, including a few of the basics, that boast valuable services beyond job postings. TweetMyJobs is a free service that connects job seekers with job openings. TweetMyJobs is affiliated with the National Career Development Association as well as the Professional Association of Resume Writers & Career Coaches. Job information can come to you via Twitter, e-mail or RSS. In addition, TweetMyJobs offers resume writing services (prices vary depending upon your needs), including specialized services for students and veterans. LinkUp also allows you to bookmark jobs so you can see when they've been closed by the employer. Indeed is another job search engine that enables users to find jobs posted on thousands of company career sites and job boards. | Badgers Defense Gets Job Done Against Gophers - nbc15.com Posted: 09 Jan 2011 04:40 PM PST After seeing an 18-point second-half lead cut to three, the Wisconsin women's basketball team held on for a 47-42 victory over Minnesota Sunday in front of a crowd of 4,690 at the Kohl Center. Lisa Stone's teams have always prided themselves on their defense and today's game against Minnesota was a perfect example of that. Despite going the final 10 minutes without a field goal, the Badgers prevailed on the strength of their defense, limiting the Golden Gophers to just 28.6 percent shooting from the field (14-of-49) and forcing 21 turnovers. The win, UW's fourth in a row over its border rival, evens Wisconsin's overall record at 8-8 and moves the Badgers into sole possession of second-place in the Big Ten with a 3-1 record. Senior forward Lin Zastrow scored a career-high 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting. She was also 6-of-6 from the free throw line, including two crucial makes with 11 seconds left to ice the game. Classmate Alyssa Karel was the only other Badger to score in double figures, finishing with 12 points. The Badgers dominated the first nine and a half minutes of the second half, opening the second frame on a 17-4 run to take a 36-18 lead. Zastrow and Karel accounted for 15 points in the run while Minnesota made just 2-of-9 shots and committed seven turnovers. Minnesota would not go away, using a 17-2 run to close within 40-37 with less than four minutes left. Wisconsin's defense again took control though, as the Golden Gophers went scoreless for the next 3:40 and the Badgers tacked on three free throws. Minnesota closed within 45-42 on a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left but Zastrow's free throws put the game away. Wisconsin finished the game shooting 35.0 percent (14-of-40) from the field, hitting just 3-of-16 (.188) of its 3-pointers. The Badgers also went 16-of-24 (66.7 percent) from the free throw line. UW was just 6-of-21 (.286) from the field in the second half but committed just three turnovers in the half and made 14-of-22 free throws. Despite being held scoreless, sophomore guard Taylor Wurtz paced the Badgers with seven rebounds. Kiara Buford was the lone Minnesota player in double figures, scoring 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting. With the loss, the Golden Gophers fall to 8-9 overall and 0-4 in the Big Ten. Zastrow showed no ill effects of sitting out Thursday's game against Michigan State with a head injury. She had a hand in 11 of Wisconsin's first 13 points, going 3-of-3 from the floor and adding two assists. Despite 12 first-half turnovers, the Badgers went into the break with a 19-14 lead. The 19 points tied a season low for Wisconsin. UW held Minnesota to just 4-of-24 shooting (.167) and forced 10 turnovers of its own. Zastrow and Karel combined for 14 of UW's 19 points in the half. The Golden Gophers led just once in the opening frame, 3-2, before going on a streak of nearly 13 minutes without a field goal. Over that span, Wisconsin jumped out to a 13-6 lead. Minnesota climbed within one point, 13-12, at the 3:47 mark but the Badgers responded by scoring six of the final eight points before the halftime buzzer. Wisconsin returns to action on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Kohl Center against Purdue. The game will be televised live by the Big Ten Network. The Badgers and Boilermakers met in the teams' Big Ten opener on Dec. 30 with UW winning, 68-66, in West Lafayette, Ind. That was Wisconsin's first win at Purdue since 1984.
