Hundreds of job seekers are expected to gather Wednesday morning for the Community Career Expo in Northeast Austin.

It is the 12th annual Career Expo sponsored by Goodwill Industries in conjunction with the City of Austin, Workforce Solutions-Capital Area, and the Austin American-Statesman. A large mix of employers and job seekers are expected.

"It's a little intimidating and scary, but I do have faith that things are bouncing back especially with the fat that they're having job fairs around," said one job seeker.

The available jobs at this year's Expo range from customer service, health care, retail and more with both large and small companies.

"I think in this market, maybe (employers) can pick up some people they otherwise wouldn't be able to attract," said one organizer of last year's expo.

Employers are searching for beginners as well as professionals to fill open positions.

"Employers are opening up their eyes a little bit to take experienced workers, whereas they might have taken the younger people they can train, so there's a benefit to having somebody who knows how to do something," said a previous job seeker at the expo.

Job seekers can expect to fill out applications, hand in resumes and go through on the spot interviews. Workshops and classes are also offered at the Expo including resume building and job interviewing critiques.

The Community Career Expo runs from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Goodwill Community Center on Norwood Park Boulevard at the corner of Highway 183 and I-35.
