| Job Seeker Advice - Three tips to be a hit in the ... - PRLog (free press release) Posted: 22 Mar 2010 05:55 AM PDT PR Log (Press Release) – Mar 22, 2010 – Job seekers often have a very tough time. On one side, they don't have a job they like (or in some cases, they don't even have a job at all), and on the other, there is a whole lot of free and useless advice coming from everywhere. Further, when you go out to pick up the newspaper and look for openings, there are always more positions that are of your interest, but where you do not fit in once you give the interview. And in case you think that the law of numbers will help you, and you will eventually find a good job if you just keep trying, then here a first hand job seeker advice, it doesn't work that way.
Simply put, until and unless you make the extra effort to get a job, nothing is going to happen, irrespective of how talented you are. The first step towards this is to make a good resume. Highlight your educational qualification, relevant experience, achievements, etc. Also, make it a point to look at the company's website or know something about the same so that you carry a favorable impression in front of the interviewer. The next important point would be to keep multiple copies of your CV printed, so that in case you find a good office on the way to any other interview, or even while doing something else; you can at least have a miniscule chance of getting a call, at least. Compare that to not doing the same, and you can be sure that no call would come. Thirdly, start socializing with people; you will be amazed to know how much you can gain from this job seeker advice (http://www.thecareeradvicecolumn.com/ category/job- seeker ... ). And even if there is not much scope of getting any direct connection with people from your industry, there are many well-connected people who can easily help you if you can make a favorable impression. This is by far the most effective way of getting a job, but make sure you can follow through with good work, otherwise the results can be disastrous, since you have come through somebody's reference. So there you have it, a list of the most essential things you need to emphasize on. However, if you need more detailed information on how to get the right job, career advice from professionals is probably the best you can take help of. Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry. | Suffering from Chronic Career-Crisis Disease? Let The ... - PRWeb Posted: 22 Mar 2010 12:05 AM PDT Two industry-leading career services professionals recently joined forces to provide expert advice and educate job seekers in the most effective methods to land jobs and manage successful careers through their BlogTalkRadio show, blog, and social media tools. Upcoming radio show on Wednesday, March 24th at 8 p.m. ET will feature Alexandra Levit, best-selling career industry author, workplace journalist, and Wall Street Journal contributor discussing her newest book, "New Job, New You: A Guide to Re-Inventing Yourself in a Bright New Career." Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) March 22, 2010 -- If your career isn't heading in the direction you think it should, perhaps it's time for an intervention. Now, job seekers can get the "clinical" help they need to navigate the often confusing job-search process from The Career Clinicians. Known as the "dynamic duo" of the career services industry, the two resume writing and career consulting experts behind The Career Clinicians are on a mission. They decided to utilize their 50 years of combined experience in the career management field to educate job seekers and professionals in the most effective methods to land jobs and build successful careers. The Career Clinicians' (www.thecareerclinicians.com) deliver free expert advice through their website and blog, social media efforts, and weekly BlogTalkRadio show (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-career-clinicians) which covers all subjects related to the job search and career management process. In addition, they also provide fee-for-service career document preparation (resumes, cover letters, etc.) and interview / career consulting services. "As a professional who has written resumes and career-related documents for clients all over the world during the past 23 years, in addition to the six years I spent as a hiring manager, I realized there was a great deal of inaccurate information and opinions being dispensed about the proper way to manage a career," stated Kathy Sweeney, NCRW, CPRW, CEIC, CCM, and president of The Write Resume (www.awriteresume.com). "I knew job seekers could become frustrated with all the differing advice and they needed experts to help guide them through the career management process. That is when I came up with the idea for The Career Clinicians." After much thought and consideration, Sweeney knew she needed a partner who, like her, operated with integrity, delivered quality products / services, and based insights regarding career-related matters on experience, facts, and research, rather than opinions. So, Sweeney enlisted the assistance of a well-respected colleague, Norine Dagliano, NCRW, CPRW, CFRW/CC and president of ekm Inspirations (www.ekminpsirations.com) for the new endeavor. Dagliano didn't hesitate and immediately signed on to become part of the team. "When Kathy called to tell me about her vision, I knew right away I wanted to partner with her," said Dagliano. "Having been in the career services business myself for nearly 25 years, I was intrigued by Kathy's unique approach to assisting job seekers and saw this as a way to reach out and help more people find fulfilling jobs and careers." Although Sweeney and Dagliano operate their own individual resume writing, and interview, job search, and career consulting practices, they believed it would be easier to reach and educate the public on the appropriate methods and tools to enhance their careers if they were to work as a team. "After a lengthy brainstorming session, Norine and I decided the best way to communicate our expertise and educate job seekers was to leverage all the available Internet and social media tools," recalled Sweeney. "So, we immediately put together an Internet radio show on BlogTalkRadio, built a website, developed a blog (http://thecareercliniciansblog.com), and created a Twitter account (http://twitter.com/CareerTriage), and Facebook, LinkedIn, and MySpace pages." Since the launch of their weekly BlogTalkRadio show in December 2009, Sweeney and Dagliano have already amassed a following of loyal listeners. The show airs every Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET on BlogTalkRadio (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-career-clinicians). Individuals can listen to live shows online and call in with questions at (917) 889-9043 during the broadcast, or hear previously recorded radio programs by visiting The Career Clinicians BlogTalkRadio home page. The two career industry experts have already developed, produced, and aired several shows which provide direct advice on many career-related topics. Further, they have also hosted some great guests, including John Swigard, president of ExecutiveJobGuide.com (www.executivejobguide.com) and author of "The Executive's 'How To' Guide for the Job Search," and recruiter Cindy Keefer, president of Keefer Healthcare Recruiting, a leading healthcare industry recruitment firm. The Career Clinicians next show, airing on March 24, 2010 at 8 pm ET, will feature Alexandra Levit, author of several best-selling career books, syndicated workplace / business columnist, and Wall Street Journal contributor.
